Moccamaster CDT Grand
Moccamaster Brewer Guide
We no longer stock Moccamaster brewers
We sold and recommended Moccamaster brewers for many years, including this model. They are excellent coffee makers, but we have chosen to focus our inventory on what makes the biggest difference in the cup: freshly roasted coffee, thoughtful brewing advice, and better coffee at home.
Already own a Moccamaster? This page remains here as a helpful guide so you can get the best possible results from your brewer.

How to brew better coffee with a Moccamaster
Moccamaster brewers are simple, durable, and capable of making excellent coffee. The brewer matters, but the biggest improvements usually come from fresh coffee, the right grind, clean water, and a consistent recipe.
Use fresh coffee
Start with freshly roasted coffee and grind it just before brewing whenever possible. Older coffee will taste flat, even in a great brewer.
Use the right ratio
A good starting point is 60 grams of coffee per 1 litre of water. Adjust slightly stronger or weaker depending on your taste.
Grind for automatic drip
Use a medium grind, similar to what you would use for a flat-bottom drip brewer. If the coffee tastes sour or thin, grind a little finer. If it tastes bitter or harsh, grind a little coarser.
Keep it clean
Rinse the brew basket and carafe after each use, and clean or descale the brewer regularly. Coffee oils and mineral buildup can dull sweetness and clarity.
Best coffees for Moccamaster
We usually recommend balanced, filter-friendly coffees for Moccamaster brewers: clean single origins, approachable blends, and coffees with sweetness, clarity, and a medium roast profile.
