Our founder, Poul Mark, first met Senior Jumenez in 2010 during a trip to Tarrazu. The family had just begun their journey into the world of specialty coffee production, and all that would entail. Twelve years later, the boys have now grown and are much more involved in the family farm.
Their coffee grows in the higher regions of Tarrazu, and more specifically around the town of Concepcion which is 1800 meters above sea level. This elevation allows the coffee to ripen at a slower rate and results in a more complex flavour profile. The farm’s mix of Caturra, Typica, and Bourbon coffee trees provide a solid mix of coffee varietals which yields a classic expression of the flavours of the Tarrazú region.
La Concha is a coffee farm run by industrious and hardworking folk who are typical of the coffee growers in Costa Rica. They represent the growing middle-class entrepreneurs who work hard to build a future for themselves and their families.
