Sourced from small-scale farmers around Ciudad Vieja, this coffee embodies the dedication to quality and tradition that defines the region. With notes of almond butter, molasses, and apricot, Hunapu offers a truly unforgettable experience.
About Hunapu Coffee
Grown at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 1,800 metres above sea level, Hunapu coffee reflects the unique terroir of the Antigua region. This year, all lots were sourced exclusively from farms near Ciudad Vieja, the old city just east of Antigua. These high-altitude farms provide the ideal conditions for slow cherry maturation, resulting in complex and sweet flavours.
Commitment to Quality at Bella Vista
Luis Pedro Zelaya and his team at Bella Vista mill are dedicated to supporting small-scale farmers and ensuring exceptional coffee quality through:
-
Farmer Support: Sharing techniques for growing, pruning, and pest management.
-
Rigorous Cherry Inspection: Each lot is inspected to ensure over 90% of cherries are fully ripe (often achieving 98%).
-
Lot Integrity: Harvests are kept separate, with each lot—ranging from 500 to 1,000 kg—individually cupped for prospective buyers.
This meticulous approach guarantees that every cup of Hunapu coffee delivers the exceptional taste of its origin.
