Finca Buena Vista has been in the Zelaya family for nearly 20 years. Quality on the farm is managed by Luis Pedro Zelaya Zamora, who also runs Bella Vista, the milling facility where the coffee is processed at, so the overall quality of the green coffee is supervised by him. Luis Pedro ensures this quality through effective tissue management (including fertilizing, pruning, and stumping), shade implementation, and selective harvesting. Each harvest day is organized by farm location and variety, which means buyers like us can blend small day-lots into larger offerings while keeping to a single variety if desired. This is what we’ve done, and our offering this year is a selection of Bourbon varieties that were harvested.
