With over 400 producers organizing the Mahiga factory in Nyeri, Kenya, this lot is grown at an altitude of 1700-1890 masl. This coffee is grown on the lower end of Mt. Kenya where the soil is incredibly mineral-rich. Mahiga is expertly picked, sorted then fermented twice, once underwater for 12 hours, and again under fresh water for another 12-36 hours, with a wash in between. After the drying is complete the coffee is stored on-site and eventually delivered to a dry mill. This coffee produces rich, complex flavours like lime curd and juicy cranberry, with an intriguing sweet brown sugar finish.
