Elmer and Leyla own two small farms near the towns of Viste Alegre and Bombaca in the mountainous area southwest of the city of Jaén. They’ve been working with Origin Coffee Lab since 2017. Initially sceptical of Origin’s claims to be able to secure high prices for their coffee, Elmer and Leyla delivered only a small amount to them at first. When Origin was able to deliver on their promises, they decided to work with Origin for all of their coffees and to share their story with other farmers in the area. In addition to coffee, Elmer and Leyla grow yuca, plantain, guava and lemon on their farms and run a small grocery store in the town of Viste Alegre.

This particular lot comes from their Bolsal farm which is near the town of Bombaca. Located at over 1900 meters above sea level, it is planted with Caturra and Catuai, which are picked by Elmer and Leyla themselves. The coffees are depulped, fermented for 20 hours and then dried over two weeks on covered patios. Their coffees are fruity and balanced, showing ripe blackberry, dark cherry, and brown sugar notes.
