Transcend Coffee & Roastery | Green
We've bought coffee from METAD before. They own and operate farms and coffee processing stations in Guji and neighbouring Gedeb. They sell coffee from their own farms as well as coffees purchased from small-holder farmers (often referred to as out-growers) from the areas they have their own processing station set up. Knowing that there is a strong market for high quality naturally processed coffees, many of their processing stations do only that. This saves a lot of time and money in setting up operations and has enabled them to grow quickly. METAD is a coffee exporter run by the Adinew brothers. Aman, the oldest, had been an executive in the US before returning to Ethiopia to run the operations of the newly formed Ethiopia Commodities Exchange. After his time there ended, he wanted to bring more Ethiopian coffee to the world and started METAD with his brothers, Tariku and Michael.
Chelchele station is in the Chelchele kebele in the woreda of Gedeb, which is located in the Gedeo Zone in southern Ethiopia. Hundreds of small farmers from around the area bring their coffee cherries to sell to this station, where they are sorted and dried over the course of 18-21 days.
We purchased this small lot of coffee from Royal Coffee in Oakland, California.
