Abra Degala has been farming coffee on 5 hectares in Chelbesa since 1982 and was one of the founding members of the Worka Co-operative, which started in 2005 and now boasts a membership of nearly 500 producers. He has been refining his methods for almost 40 years and has used his experience in coffee growing to share his knowledge with his community. It's not often that a single farmer's coffee is processed and sold separately from a washing station's other lots, and only happens when the quality difference justifies it.

Chelbesa is the largest coffee-growing community in Gedeb, which is in the southern part of the Gedeo zone. Coffees from this area tend to share the best qualities of both traditional Yirgacheffe's and the relatively new profiles seen out of neighbouring Guji.

We want to draw your attention to a subtle change on our labels, all of our labels now include both filter and espresso symbols.  The reason for this is simple:  all of our coffees have been prepared so that they are well suited to any brewing method.  Different brewing methods will highlight different aspects of our coffees, making each brew unique.  We will continue to classify any coffees we deem especially suited for brewing espresso.
